Land of Mine review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 1 October 2017 06:39 (A review of Land of Mine)

a very disturbing drama about the very young german soldiers of the volkssturm, and the atlantic wall full of mines. a scandinavian officer is traumatized by the war also and there is still human behaviour in all the involved people. everywhere are victims. and is there really a chance for going home for the germans?

The Silent Mountain review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 1 October 2017 06:32 (A review of The Silent Mountain)

there is a great wedding party in a hotel in the mountains... but then there is the worldwar, later being called the first worldwar, ...
a great historian movie about family and love in the mountains between austria and italy. there are the young men with love in their hearts and are abused for the politics of war. and meanwhile there are traitors everywhere, and blackmailing. and the best men are the most endangered. can you hate the enemy when you know your wife and family on the other side? when in the rotten political system is no freedom to be find, the there is hope in the far away america...

Pommes essen review

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 1 October 2017 06:22 (A review of Pommes essen)

a single mother (Anneke Kim Sarnau ) with three girls works without a good fortune, and while healing after an accident, the sisters have to be reasonable and strong and go their way with the usual ups and downs. but as always: family is strong and with friends and willing to work there is a good chance for becoming a better team with trust in their abilities and talents... and the uncle (played by legendary german rapper and cardriver Smudo) seems to be a loser, but who knows who will win with the familys secret sauce?
Patty Frey, dreams of being a chef, and is not interested in the little mobile catering kitchen... so what will happen with her talent and the dream of the big big world?
easy movie, nothing so surprising.

Frühstück mit einer Unbekannten review

Posted : 1 year ago on 10 November 2016 09:29 (A review of Frühstück mit einer Unbekannten)

a cute, clumsy, shy romance is the framework for an overambitious propaganda about the dying, starving children in the world.
Liefers and Jentsch are a fine couple in this movie, but the director put to much eager in a thin story.

Forbidden Love review

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 13 March 2016 05:33 (A review of Forbidden Love)

a romeo and juliet movie. the society of the late eastern germany with its unlucky people as a hostile enviroment or a blooming young teenager love.
Montague versus Capulet leads to abusing the law to separate the young couple.

The Hong Kong Affair review

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 13 March 2016 01:50 (A review of The Hong Kong Affair)

if you think you can bear another german movie woven around the actress Veronica Ferres then you can try.
But V.F. is not underacting, - she is not able to have more than two facial expressions...
